Latoya Denique

Scar Alchemy CEO

I’m Latoya Denique, CEO of Scar Alchemy. I know what it’s like to hide. As a teenager and much of my early adult life, I suffered from severe acne. No amount of creams, oils, diets, or even prayers seemed to make anything better. Like you, I tried it all.

I almost avoided celebrating my 21st birthday, but my friends insisted my skin didn’t look as bad as I thought. The next morning, I was hiding in my mother’s bathroom, crying hysterically. I was so embarrassed because I needed to wake up an hour earlier than my friends in order to put on a “natural face.” I was horrified they might discover how bad my skin was! I could cover up outside of the house, but no one ever saw me without makeup, not even my closest friends.

My four closest friends were gorgeous- they had the confidence that I tried to possess, the hair, the attitude, the bodies, and perfect skin! I felt like the ugly duckling of the crew, and hoped one day, someone would come along to clear up my skin and ultimately change my life.

Fortunately for me, that happened. The next year, I was referred to an amazing dermatologist that specialized in severe acne. It was almost two years later before I found the courage, but I remember the first time I went to the grocery store without makeup. I felt like a million bucks!

That’s what I want for you. To feel confident in your skin, and not be held captive. The freedom to choose to wear shorts or pants. The freedom to wear a tank top or long sleeves. The freedom to wear a low-cut shirt to show off your cleavage or a button-down. At a minimum, you deserve options. Give yourself that.

Hey Beautiful!

Freedom looks good, but feels even better!
